Xbox US ban gets delayed

There is good news for Xbox lovers. This Microsoft device will not be banned from the United States at least as of now. In the month of April this year, a US International Trade Commission judge ruled that Microsoft Inc has breached four patents for which the owner is the Motorola Mobility, recently acquired by Google. The ITC judge recommended the ban in the month of May this year based on the ruling.

The complaint mentioned that Microsoft has infringed the patents of wireless connectivity, video compression and some other technologies. The ITC ‘s decision on the proposed ban on the import is supposed to come in August but on June 29th, the full commission has sent back the case to the judge so that it could be reconsidered.

After the ban was recommended for the Microsoft Xbox in US, the Federal Trade Commission sent a letter to the ITC alarming that such bans could bring harm for the potential customers, the competition and the innovative ideas in the industry.

The FTC also recommended that the companies should be given limited abilities for blocking the competitors’ imports based on the patent issues. FTC has started an investigation to find out whether Google and Motorola Mobility unit is respecting the FRAND commitments.
