Microsoft discontinues ‘Inside Xbox’ video service

The Xbox Live used to offer a feature that provided gamers with the latest news and details regarding the Xbox 360 in a simple video format. Unfortunately, that feature, called the “Inside Xbox” video service, has been discontinued by Microsoft, probably due to low interest on the part of the users. Now things like Featured Videos, Major’s Minute and Insider Moves will no longer be available.

Microsoft made an announcement stating that the Xbox Live is considering its operating model for the Inside Xbox video service, which may result in certain changes, although no new is available yet.

The Xbox LIVE in Japan and Mexico shall continue to create first-party content for its members through other media different from the Inside Xbox brand. This is not to say that Xbox 360 videos will cease to exist. Rather, they will live under different branding opportunities.

The software giant added that it will now source third-party news and content from several existing as well as future partners, and meanwhile supplement this content with certain first-party content.

If you’re just the average Xbox 360 user who uses it to play the occasional Halo 3, you probably won’t even notice the absence of the Inside Xbox video service. After the latest firmware update, the Inside Xbox content is so deeply hidden inside the interface that most users won’t even bother digging it out.
